A peak at how the new restaurant on Pier 26 might look.

The Hudson River Park Trust, a public benefit corporation that runs the Hudson River Park, recently put out a RFP (Request for Proposal) for a restaurateur to open an establishment in an empty, under-construction building on Pier 26.

This vast 3,335 square foot location, with a rooftop terrace, and gorgeous view of the Hudson River, is expected to be developed as a waterfront eatery. Having both indoor and outdoor dining accommodations, the Hudson River Park Trust hopes this location will provide a “high-quality, yet casual” destination that will attract both tourists and TriBeCa residents alike.

The trust CEO, Madelyn Wils, a TriBeCa resident herself, envisions a seafood restaurant for the location. The opening of a restaurant on Pier 26 will not only add to the growing dining scene of the area, but hopefully aid the trust fiscally, given that it relies on finances from privately operated concessions.

Restaurant consultant Steven Kamali will be helping field proposals which are due from potential developers by August 23. The trust hopes to select one by September 27, so that the restaurant can open by May 2014. Look out for this restaurant, because this space has the opportunity to become the largest full service waterfront eatery of the area!
