Delverde, an authentic, Abruzzo built pasta producer, is proudly delivering their ‘Pasta Sommelier’ and Cooking Experience culinary program at various locations around Manhattan through July 15.
The ‘Pasta Sommelier’ is a term created for the campaign, by Delverde when it was realized that there is no sufficient vocabulary to describe and compare the qualities of pasta. The aim of the experience is to provide insights and knowledge into the finest (and not so finest) Italian cooking ingredients.
The one-hour interactive experience features three stages. The participants are first informed on how to differentiate between good and bad quality pasta by testing many aspects of the different brands, such as color and texture among many others. The revelation is actually a surprising realization that many of the top brands are not as high-quality as you would think. The result? A new-found awareness for quality in Italian food.
The students are then led through an interactive cooking tutorial and ultimately are rewarded for their hard work by partaking in the delicious fruits of their labor, such as the creamy Penne Alfredo with mushrooms. If the pasta dish isn’t delicious enough for you, the class is taught by Delverde’s crew of young Italian chefs, also known as “The Pasta Boys,” who have come to America to deliver the charm of genuine Italian cooking.
Delverde also offers an education about quality olive oil and wine, two main staples of Italian cuisine.
